To make sure it is the first in this technology, Xiaomi has made a truly unique announcement
Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 14 live on the Snapdragon Tech Summit stage, less than 20 minutes after showing off the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Enough to ensure it’s the first Android manufacturer to equip itself with the chip.
How can you make sure you’re the first manufacturer with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip? There is no doubt that Xiaomi found the solution by announcing its smartphone directly on the Snapdragon Tech Summit stage.
Just about 10 minutes after the official presentation of the cutting-edge smartphone chip, William Wu, President of Xiaomi Group, took the stage. After a short presentation, just 17 minutes after presenting the new Snapdragon chip, he launched the Xiaomi 14 on stage, announcing that he had the first smartphone under the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Xiaomi killed the game, but at what cost?
Every year, there’s a race between Android manufacturers to see who will be the first to equip themselves with the chip. With this announcement, which will be followed on October 26, that is, two days later, by a conference dedicated to the Chinese launch of the Xiaomi 14, it seems that the Chinese manufacturer has put in place the necessary means to secure this place in 2023.
With this surprise announcement, Qualcomm confirms its desire to create partnerships with smartphone brands for more exciting announcements than usual. We particularly think of the announcement of the transition to the Snapdragon 8 series for the Nothing Phone (2) at MWC 2023.
We have seen the Xiaomi 14
So the Xiaomi 14 was shown briefly on stage. To be very honest, apart from its photo block which gains weight and seems to integrate four photo modules, its design seems to be very similar to that of the Xiaomi 13.
While the full announcement will have to wait until October 26, 1pm Paris time, William Wu is still talking a little about the offerings. Logic at a conference dedicated to the launch of the chip.
The Xiaomi 14, according to its manufacturer, can open 30 applications in 140 seconds. Without even mentioning it, Xiaomi claims that its top competitor can do the same in 154.12 seconds. Impressive on paper, but it’s hard to see the use case.
Another figure presented during the conference: Xiaomi 14 can guarantee performance at around 60 FPS with a temperature of “ Just» 43.2 degrees Celsius. We imagine Xiaomi is talking about the processor temperature, because if it was about the battery, the number would be quite high.
See you next day for more details on the Xiaomi 14. We’ll keep an eye on thatFrandroid.
