The race for the 2023 World Cup begins against Lithuania

UEFA confirmed the schedule for Group G to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. The women’s national team, which will face Italy, Romania, Croatia, Moldova and Lithuania in its group, will start its qualifying campaign against Lithuania on Friday 17 September 2021. The matches against Italy will be held in November 2021 and April 2022. .

As in previous European Championship qualifiers, Lithuania will be the first competitor on home soil. The Swiss national team plays its first match away from home four days later, on Tuesday 21 September, against Moldova. Nielsen’s side will follow two more home matches in October 2021: against Romania on Friday 22 October and against Croatia on Tuesday 26 October.

Switzerland, seeded in Group G, will face Italy, first away. The first match will be played on Friday, November 26th. The return leg is scheduled to take place in Switzerland on Tuesday 12 April 2022.

To complete the World Cup qualifiers, Switzerland will play Croatia on Friday 2 September 2022 and at home to Moldova on Tuesday 6 September 2022.

The winners from the nine groups will qualify directly for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The top eight runners-up will play the qualifiers in the last two available places. An additional European team will have the opportunity to qualify through an Inter-Confederation Championship to be held in Australia and New Zealand in the fall of 2022 that will allocate the last three places in the tournament brought in from 24 to 32 teams.
