The French women’s team stops in the semi-finals of the Vancouver Sevens Series

The French women’s rugby sevens team lost to New Zealand in the semi-finals of the Vancouver stage of the sevens series (36-7). Les Bleues will take on the United States for third place Sunday through Monday at 2:07 a.m.

After three minutes of play, Stacy Waka scored the first try of the match. She traveled 50 meters before falling back on a cross by Sarah Herrini two minutes into the connection (10-0). The French came within five meters of the New Zealanders in goal but Teela Nathan Wong punished them before the break.

Jade Ulutule saved the honor with her fourth attempt of the weekend, but the Blue Team were too short to contest the New Zealanders.

So the French stand at the gates of the final and will face the Americans in third place. New Zealand will face the final match against Australia, who crushed the other United States in the semi-finals (38-0).
