Last week, the Red Bull leaders made the decision to replace Nyck De Vries with Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri for the second half of the 2023 season. So the Red Bull Junior Team Academy drivers still have to wait a few months before they can be promoted to the top category of motorsport. Participating in Super Formula – the Japanese single-seater championship – Liam Lawson understands Red Bull’s decision. According to him, he is not yet ready for Formula 1.
“My goal is to secure a place for next year. Coming in the middle of the season was very difficult. […] They wanted someone with experience who had been in F1 for a long time. So I understand their decision.”

Good performance in Super Formula
Liam Lawson is ranked second in the championship and is in great shape to win the title. He is two points behind the leader, Ritomo Miyata. His good performances could get him what he wants, a seat in Formula One. Several seniors, such as Pierre Gasly, competed in this championship before joining Formula 1. The New Zealand driver aims to get himself behind the wheel for the following season.
Briefly
After signing Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri, the Red Bull sector leader still had to wait for an available Formula 1 place. However, the New Zealander agreed to opt for the Austrian team.
