The stated goal of the mission, called Inspiration4, was to mark a turning point in the democratization of space, by proving that the universe is also available to crews that haven’t been selected and trained in years.
The four rookies spent three days in Earth orbit, and traveled outside the International Space Station (ISS), at an altitude of up to 590 km above sea level. It orbits at around 28,000 km/h, and has circled the globe more than 15 times every day.
