School Days: “Science and Knowledge in Aquitaine in the Time of Montaigne”

School Days: “Science and Knowledge in Aquitaine in the Time of Montaigne”

Two days of study to (re)discover the great scientific figures of humanity in Aquitaine in Montaigne's time, through the image of doctors, pharmacists, botanists, mathematicians, and more broadly scientists and curious people who were interested in the discoveries of science of their time and focused on disseminating this knowledge in their works. From Agen to La Rochelle, from Périgueux to Bordeaux, it is the abundant intellectual landscape of our region in the sixteenth century that the communications provided will bring back to life, alleviating to some extent its unjust oblivion.

However, the learned culture of Aquitaine cannot be understood without a special study of scientific and scientific circles, and it is from this perspective that the days of the current study “Science and Knowledge in Aquitaine in the Time of Montaigne” fit in, the aim of which is to identify: the identification and analysis of authors and works that illustrate various areas of scientific and technical knowledge .
