New quick settings panel
This is undoubtedly the new thing that some people will notice more quickly: the shortcuts panel in Samsung One UI 6 changes radically. The comparison below with our screenshots allows you to clearly see the difference in the organization of the boxes.
So, when the panel is completely lowered, we can see that the quick settings in One UI 6 (Android 14) are divided into several tiles. So, towards the top, we have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controls in two different areas. Then come some general options like ring/vibrate/silent mode, auto-rotate, mobile data, or flashlight.
The options related to the display then arrive, in the same rectangle, with the brightness scale, the visual comfort button and the dark mode. Finally, at the bottom, there are two more distinct areas that provide access to Smart View – Samsung’s screen sharing app – and control of connected devices in the home. In comparison, in One UI 5 (Android 13), all of these elements were in one larger area.
Separate notifications for shortcuts
By default, Samsung One UI 6 continues to display notifications through the shortcuts panel. As a reminder, swiping down displays notifications and some shortcuts. The second swipe displays all the quick settings.
However, like what iOS and even MIUI do, One UI 6 offers the ability to separate notifications from the shortcuts panel into two different parts.
