Montrose. The archaeological space welcomed more than 1000 students at the end of the academic year.

The Montrosier archaeological area welcomed numerous groups of students at the end of the school year for the Initiation and Discovery of Archaeology days. Through many activities, the archaeological space mediators introduced more than 1,000 children to different periods of prehistory, antiquity and the Middle Ages, as well as to daily life through remains found locally or in the Aveyron region. Introduction to excavation, cave art, prehistoric pottery and Gallo-Roman objects interspersed these days, always appreciated by budding archaeologists. Some schools, such as the Jean Laroche Foundation in Onet-le-Château, also had the opportunity to visit the excavation site of the prehistoric shelter of Roquemesseau. The 13th excavation campaign began at the end of June under the direction of Thomas Perrin. A rare opportunity for schoolchildren, access to archaeological sites is rarely granted, and a moment of intense exchanges by Thomas Perrin, full of many questions! Now it's the tourist season for the archaeological area, open daily except Saturdays in July and August from 10am to 12:30pm and from 2pm to 6pm. Activities will be offered from Monday to Friday at 2:30pm and 4:30pm and the full program can be found on the website: museums.aveyron.fr Or by contacting the museum at 05 65 70 75 00 or by email [email protected]
