MLA technology for 1500 nits
As usual, the Japanese company is taking advantage of the CES show in Las Vegas to unveil its premium TV series. Thus, the same is true in 2023 with the Oled Panasonic MZ2000 TV series.
Like the 2022 LZ2000 series, the MZ2000 has three references, the Panasonic TX-55MZ2000 (140 cm), Panasonic TX-65MZ2000 (165 cm) and Panasonic TX-77MZ2000 (196 cm).

That is, the first two models are the only ones to benefit from the new Master Oled Ultimate boards equipped with the MLA (Micro Lens Array, Micro Lens Array) process. See the photo above(Developed by LG Display also on certain diagonals of the LG G3 vintage 2023)See our news CES 23>Oled LG G3 TV, MLA technology for over 70% peak light on 55″ / 65″ and 77″ panels). With the latter, Panasonic announces a peak luminous value of 1,500 lumens, as shown in the image below, taken from the brand’s press conference that just ended, a few hours before the opening of CES in Las Vegas 2023. The panel is still a 77-inch sample, Named Master Oled Pro Cinema Size, same as 77LZ2000.
Panasonic MZ2000 Oled TV key specs
Panasonic MZ2000 TVs of course offer all the equipment of last year’s LZ2000 models as well as recent technical improvements from in-house engineers to display a more beautiful picture, as well as today’s latest technology with a special focus on video games: gamepad function, improved Input Lag for 60 games Hz, HDR management Dolby Vision up to 60 Hz, AMD FreeSync Premium certification in game mode and automatic detection of nVidia processors (G‑Sync compatibility).
Panasonic MZ2000 TVs feature the sound section of the LZ2000s, i.e. a soundbar with 16 networked front speakers (in line and combo), linked to the side speakers and those in an Up Firing configuration. Of course, the entire audio system for Panasonic MZ2000 TVs was developed and configured by engineers of the famous Hi‑Fi Technics company, which is owned by Panasonic. New for 2023, Bass Boost is available to improve the bass effect.
HCX Pro AI processor
Panasonic MZ2000 TVs feature the HCX Pro AI processor chip, whose algorithm is based on machine learning technology in order to adapt in real time (analyzing the image every second) the best parameters according to the displayed content. Namely, this machine learning process is coupled with a massive image database of more than a million videos. Of course, the HCX Pro AI processor chip also works automatically on the sound provided by the Panasonic MZ2000 TVs, again by precisely adapting the settings to the nature of the program being shown, movies, sports, etc.
Game control panel
As mentioned earlier, video games are another aspect that Panasonic takes particular interest in on its OLED MZ2000 TVs. In addition to the minimum input lag of 1.5ms with 60Hz games (10.5ms otherwise), we of course note the presence of two HDMI 2.1 connectors (plus two HDMI 2.0 ports) compatible with VRR, ALLM, and HFR 4K/120. Note that eARC functionality management required.
HDR, Dolby Vision IQ, and Movie Maker Mode
As a reminder, the purpose of Dolby Vision IQ offered by Dolby Laboratories, in the presence of Dolby Vision HDR content, is to always deliver perfect picture quality whatever the ambient light conditions, without the need for remote play.
But also to adapt the TV picture settings as much as possible according to the real-time analysis of the displayed content. Thus, in a snowy scene, HDR Dolby Vision IQ affects the color temperature to approach the whiteness of powder.
Namely, the Filmmaker Mode option on Panasonic MZ200 TVs is related to the Smart Sensing operation. The latter uses the TV’s brightness sensor to adjust the HDR display according to the lighting environment. Overall, with the goal of constantly improving the quality of the displayed picture, the MZ2000 TVs include an RGB sensor that is able to adapt the color temperature displayed on the screen according to the surrounding environment, no longer just affecting brightness alone.
HDR10+, HDR HLG, HDR Dolby Vision, and HDR Photo
Panasonic MZ2000 TVs, in addition to the already mentioned HDR10 + Adaptive, are of course compatible with HDR10 +, HDR HLG and HDR Dolby Vision, not to mention HDR Photo, the HDR format for digital images that also debuted in 2019.
Likewise, on Panasonic 2020 Oled TVs, the option to deactivate Tone Mapping (shifting colors between an image with a greater dynamic range than that of the publisher to avoid clipping or cropping), and selecting the TV’s trim level via the menu appeared always appropriate. Thus, content producers will be able to take full advantage of the TV’s performance in this area, so mowing is really done to the fullest potential of the TV, not before. The result is a richer, more natural image.
CalMan agrees on the list
Of course, Panasonic MZ2000 TVs also support CalMan PatternGen test patterns from CalMan Portrait Display software via the AutoCal function. Still another resolution, the ISF certification and 3D Lut (color conversion table) built into the LZ2000 models, is faster to instantly adapt to a change in brightness, in the software on the MZ2000.
Dolby Atmos compatibility
Panasonic MZ2000 TVs always include a sound system with Up-Firing Speakers called 360° Soundscape Pro to effectively reproduce Dolby Atmos soundtracks. To effectively reproduce Dolby Atmos audio tracks. Likewise, as mentioned earlier, these TVs always accommodate side speakers to perfect the soundscape, particularly the 3D sound bubble.
Smart TV My Home Screen 8.0, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are integrated
The new Smart TV My Home Screen 8.0 function provides the ability to customize the home screen (My Scenary option) by choosing photos or videos. Panasonic has teamed up with LoungV Studio and the Joy Foundation to deliver high-quality relaxation videos. Accessing VOD and content is also easier thanks to a redesigned graphical interface based on icons representing devices connected to the TV, as well as the Netflix, Amazon, Disney +, Apple TV + and YouTube apps. Users can add frequently watched TV channels directly to the home screen.
Dual Bluetooth connectivity allows simultaneous connection of two compatible devices. Thus, for example, it is possible to enjoy TV sound on two separate wireless speakers.
Finally, Panasonic MZ2000 TVs also integrate Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa (Google Home speaker or Amazon Echo required), allowing voice control of the TV for basic functions.
Expected availability of Panasonic MZ2000 OLED TVs in the spring. Indicative prices are still unknown.
