From April 1 to 15, the Costantini Room hosts an exhibition of the artist’s paintings Patrick Demuth. The opening took place on Friday, March 31, to the sound of Batucada “Samba Mio”.

The artist’s career was introduced by the municipal deputy for culture, Nicholas Worrell, who is also a radio broadcaster and producer, notably on Radio Larzac where he presented “Flower pop”, a program about music from the 1960s and 1970s.

Bathed in his youth into the world of science fiction thanks to his writer father, Patrick Demuth had the opportunity to communicate with many animators, illustrators and comic book authors who immediately awakened his interest and encouraged him to pursue studies in this direction.

After studying graphic art at the end of the 1970s, he began his career as a freelance illustrator at the request of publishing houses, producing advertising posters and illustrations for young companies with an aesthetic close to science. – fantasy. These illustrations are shown regularly at science fiction festivals and fairs.

In 1987, he was even awarded the Grand Prix for science fiction illustration. Later, his works and architectural reproductions would lead him to work in this field for many years, especially in the restoration and preservation of urban heritage.

In 2015, inspired by the landscapes, colors and lights of the Causse du Larzac where he settled with his family, Patrick Demuth returned to painting and produced exquisite landscapes and dry pastel paintings on canvas using acrylic or oil.

Through a figurative painting that we will not see in the exhibition, another aspect of her work focuses on femininity and sensuality. During recent exhibitions we have been able to see Patrick’s work at the Concorde Art Gallery in Paris, at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Béziers and most recently at the Lavoisier Gallery in Toulouse.
