Meuilley Community Hall had its day. Meweli Mayor Georg Strutinsky describes the building as having “the heating system is ineffective, the insulation needs to be reviewed and it is not accessible to people with limited mobility. This is a gigantic feat.”
This is why the latter is for sale at 219,000 euros, in order to be able to build a meeting and leisure space on the avenue Grande. The two properties which lie on the grounds of the village hall are also for sale.
New meeting space project
“We found the opportunity to buy a property next to the municipal buildings, with an area of 600 square meters. The municipality has placed a right of first refusal and we plan to build a new meeting and entertainment space on this land. “We want to provide a more efficient space for residents,” explains the mayor. This land is also an opportunity for the municipality to put together the municipal buildings, using the land and also the buildings already built, in order to place the media library there and to equip three new flats on top of it.
However, the mayor specifies that “the purchaser of the existing village hall shall be able to use his property as he thinks fit within the limits of the sale agreement, and without causing inconvenience to the municipality.”
With the aim of installing a biomass boiler
The municipality plans a new, more natural heating system for the municipal buildings: “Before the construction of the meeting and leisure space, the priority will be to renovate the apartments and create a biomass boiler room for the new buildings. For this, we do not have a specific date yet, everything will depend on the date of sale of the concert hall. If we can sell it At the end of the year, we plan to start work on the new housing and boiler room in 2025, and we will continue to build the meeting and leisure space between 2026 and 2027, ”Georges raises. Strutinsky.
All in all, this work represents a funding of approximately €900,000. But the work won’t stop there for the municipality: “We also have a project, in a few years, to provide the same type of biomass heating for the town hall, but this requires additional work because we will have to cross the Place de la Town Hall to connect the boiler room.”
