Metal detector rings: 2.6 kg of gold was found in a rock
A 43-year-old man using a metal detector found a rock containing 2.6 kg of gold in Australia. The man sold the precious metal and got an impressive jackpot.
An Australian found his life using a simple, low-end metal detector. Walking in the state of Victoria, he came across a white boulder weighing 4.6 kg, streaked with gold nuggets.
Stunned by his discovery, the 43-year-old – who wished to remain anonymous – went to a specialty store with the find in a backpack. “He took out a pebble and threw it in my hand and said, ‘Do you think there’s $100,000 Australian dollars in it?'” BBC Director Darren Camp.
A professional evaluates the rock and discovers 83 ounces of gold, or 2.6 kilograms. He has never been hit in his 43-year career. The value of the precious metal: about 150 thousand euros! He decided to buy back the gold from his client. The discovery made the front page of the local daily newspaper under the title The Golden Professional.
“The woman will be happy.”
A nice surprise for gold lovers: “Women will be happy” (Oh wife will be happy!), said the author of the discovery, who will spend 150 thousand euros to satisfy his family.
Australia has the largest reserves of gold on the planet. The area where the rock was found has been well known to gold prospectors since the 19th century.
