Next month, Google is expected to release the final version of its next major Android update, Android 12. A version that should give prominence to the new design language, Material You. This allows you to link the dominant colors in your wallpaper for reuse in various elements of the interface, but also in Google applications as well as in third-party programs.

Of course, the keyboard should also take advantage of Material You. Anyway, that’s what 9to5Google was able to determine inside the Google Gboard app, the virtual keyboard developed by Mountain View. The group news site has already looked into the source code for version 10.9 of the app to discover certain elements related to Material You.

By decompiling the APK file of Google Gboard, 9to5Google has discovered some new features that allow the virtual keyboard to be linked to the Android 12 interface. This is especially true of zooming in on a key. This is no longer shown in a square box, but in a pie chart. The same is true when pressing for a long time on a chest, which no longer has a rectangle, but the shape of a bean with rounded sides.

Within the app settings, Google Gboard themes have also been revised in order to make some of them stand out, in particular with round and no longer rectangular frames.
