Marc Lacomar is strong for his Narrabeen debut
Two French surfers threw themselves into the water: with the success of Marc Lacomare, without Thiago Carequi. The experienced Landes goaltender, who had already crossed the first lap brilliantly on the Gold Coast, did it again last night, this time to the left of North Narrabeen, who did his best to attack the front with delicacy and precision. His first ride, which was punctuated by three laps, at the start of the heat, immediately put him in good stead, with a 7.50.
If he fell to third in the series for some time, he was quick to find a backup (4.50) which put him back up to second place, on the heels of South Africa’s Adin Masencamp. He was then bested with a 6.07 which he replaced in money time with a 6.57 by finishing his last attempt with a very sharp layup. Victorious in his heat ahead of Massenkamp, who won his second heat at the expense of Brazil’s Rafael Teixeira and Australian Saxon Ripper (see results below), Marc Lacomar is joined in the second round of the men’s draw for the seven Frenchmen exempt from the first round, Maxime Hossenot, Joan Dureux and Jorgan Cozinet, Tim Bisso, Cowley Fast, Justin Beckrit, and Marco Minot.
With 14.07 points, Landis can additionally be proud of signing the second-best eight-series total today. Only New Zealander Billy Stermand fared better, scoring 15.20 points.
As at Snapper Rocks, Tiago Carrique’s track stops at Narrabeen, on the other hand, from the first lap. Biarrot (7.36) failed to finish fourth and final in his series, and it was won by Swedish aeronaut – having grown up in Bali – Kian Martin (11.83), ahead of Girondin surfer surfing under the Moroccan flag Tifa Bouchegoa (11.66), both of whom qualified for the second round . After scoring 4.33, Kariqui was not far from the next wave, after a good turn, for a touchdown in the air, which would then refresh him. He fails, before his last attempt on two waves without potential remains in vain.
