Les Bleuets on trip against Japan to enter the competition (75-12)
It took less than two minutes to see the meeting’s first attempt leveled by Bordeaux’s Nicolas Deporteri after an unimpressive start to the match. Les Bleuets showed the full extent of their talents with fair play, alternating pace, risk, efficient selections and runs. It even seemed so easy for the French that we felt so liberated and untouchable. After tries from Reus (8), Gazzotti (10 and 34), Zinzen (17) and Capella (30), the Bleuets already spoiled the outcome of the meeting when they returned to the locker room with a score of 42 to 7.
After a near-perfect first period, the second half of the match was less successful, letting the Japanese get their hands on the ball and score their second try (following back from full-back Kosho Muto’s 29) through hooker Takashi Omoto (62). But that wasn’t enough to stem the Beloit’s thirst to try: Ferti (43rd), Deporteri (48th), Carbonneau (70th), Liuvau (75th) and Timo (76th) continued to widen the gap against the undefeated Japanese in all areas of the game. .
A rehearsal-like match before facing the Baby Blacks next Thursday for the second group match. Although Les Bleuets need not worry about their offensive and defensive abilities, they will still need to be more disciplined. UBB center Nicolas Deporteri and third midfielder Marco Gazzotti were punished with a yellow card a few minutes later (32nd and 39th) for a dangerous tackle and a gesture against the match. Fouls that had no effect on the course of the match but should be avoided against the New Zealanders who are most effective when they get close to the inside of the goal.
