Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom in Los Angeles and Kim Kardashian and Bradley Cooper abroad
On Saturday, April 13, French-Canadian scientist Michel Sadelan received the “Oscar of Science” award in Los Angeles, for his research that made it possible to program cells of the immune system to fight cancer. This genetic engineer received the Breakthrough Award, during a very glamorous ceremony, which brought together big names in technology such as Elon Musk and Bill Gates, but also a stream of celebrities.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom competed in elegance. The singer appeared wearing a Coperni dress with her companion wearing a Celine suit. Other couples photographed: Edward Norton and his wife Shauna Robertson, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Nicole Levine, Alicia Keys and her companion Swizz Beatz, or Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego Saldana. For her part, Kim Kardashian arrived accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner. Margot Robbie, Jessica Chastain, Bradley Cooper, Michelle Yeoh, Olivia Wilde, Brie Larson, Glenn Close, and Lizzo were spotted.
Patients survive 'thanks to CAR-T cells'
The Breakthrough Prize was launched by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs in early 2010 to reward achievements in basic research. Thus, Michel Sadlan will share $3 million with American Carl John, an immunologist who also worked on the same topic with him. “But the biggest joy is seeing patients […] “Those who no longer have any chance, who thank us, and who are alive today thanks to CAR-T cells,” the scientist explained.
