Is the control panel disappearing from Windows?
The iconic interface is now being “deprecated,” according to Microsoft's support site, a move that could see it disappear from the popular operating system.
Some PC fans may have a touch of nostalgia: Microsoft is planning to say goodbye to its legendary console. “Control Panel”With its old-school design and icons, the interface was well-known to Windows users. Since 1985, they could change clock formats, view network management, or add audio devices. Many of these tasks Microsoft has been relegating to the Settings section of its operating system for more than a decade.
On its support site, the US IT giant states that its control panel is currently being updated. “consumption”and that “Many Control Panel settings are being migrated to the Settings app, providing a more modern and streamlined experience.”
Microsoft states on its website that the Control Panel is still there. “For compatibility reasons and to allow access to options that have not yet been migrated.” However, the company has not announced the end date of this migration process.. From the end of August, Microsoft should still roll out a new update (called 24h2) to devices equipped with Windows 11. Could this be the end of the Control Panel? Answer in the coming days.
