INRAE and the University of Paris-Saclay strengthen their partnership
Signed by Estelle Lacona, Rector of the University of Paris-Saclay and Philippe Mauguin, Chairman and CEO of INRAE on March 9, 2023, in the presence of Laurent Buisson, CEO of AgroParisTecha framework partnership agreement aimed at strengthening the bonds that have been forged over more than 10 years.
INRAE was like that Closely related since 1any January 2015, within the Community of Universities and Institutions (COMUE) “Paris-Saclay University”, to the project of the new Paris-Saclay University, created in 1any January 2020. INRAE is involved in the management of the University of Paris-Saclay and is involved in many of the university’s structures, in particular its Graduate Schools (GS). It is a direct partner of eight of them, including GS Biosphera coordinated by AgroParisTech. All units are supervised by INRAE They fall within the scientific scope of the University and also aim to participate in cross-cutting programs or “Interdisciplinary Objects” (IO) created by the University in order to promote interdisciplinarity and strengthen synergies around unified themes, at the site level.
INRAE and the University of Paris-Saclay share outstanding staff and collaboration, particularly in microbiology and plant sciences, fields of high international visibility and equipped with an exceptional infrastructure for microbial metagenomics and plant experiments. Most of the staff at Université Paris-Saclay in Animal Science, Ecological Agriculture and Food, a field that benefits from an impressive food process engineering infrastructure, are also staff from INRAE and AgroParisTech. Finally, the development of mathematics and its applications, the humanities and social sciences and its decisive contribution to the development of responses to key issues are at the core of the joint scientific strategy of the two institutions.
This agreement reinforces the joint strategy of the two partners and the measures being implemented in terms of training, research and development. Thus, it is based on a common scientific policy and training support policy with intensifying procedures that promote better participation of researchers in training. The university will thus create an ‘adjunct professor’ status for scholars wishing to participate actively in teaching and training through research. In terms of funding for doctoral contracts, both institutions are committed to promoting the dissemination of new initiatives by continuing existing practices. INRAE will henceforth participate in the creation of joint thematic doctoral programs and will contribute through its staff to All activities of doctoral schools attached to it. INRAE and the University will also do their best to prepare joint procedures for the benefit of the reception and transportation of researchers.
Through this partnership agreement, INRAE and the University of Paris-Saclay pledge to join forces to respond to key common societal challenges around health and well-being, agriculture, food and biodiversity, energy, climate, environment, sustainable development, open science, as well as digital transformation, industrial renewal, knowledge augmentation and exchange.
