Gigabyte releases BIOS for “next-generation” Intel processors
The company released BIOS for the 600 and 700 motherboards that included support for the next generation of “mysterious” Intel processors. Well, as for the LGA-1700 socket, the main candidates are Raptor Lake Refresh.
We have devoted many articles to the mobile Meteor Lake processor with 16 cores / 22 threads in recent days. Unfortunately, according to the latest information shared by the leakers, this 14th generation Core will still be on a mobile platform, and Intel has decided to skip the Meteor Lake desktop. Gigabyte’s new BIOS for LGA-1700 motherboards tends to confirm this abandonment.
On May 31, the company released a BIOS whose primary goal was to fix a vulnerability that allowed hackers to download software without validating it. Only the third point of the description indicates support for the new generation of Intel processors. The company doesn’t specify which combination it is, but the only reasonable candidate for the LGA-1700 socket is Raptor Lake Refresh. According to rumors, Intel will launch this series next September. In addition to higher CPU frequencies, these cores will support higher memory speeds. Existing motherboards must support these processors, but motherboard manufacturers will also offer more efficient Z790 motherboards, offering Wi-Fi 7 and 5 GbE ports in particular.

Intel Innovation 2023: What products can be formalized?
At the same time, Intel announced its Intel Innovation event on September 19th and 20th. The company introduced its 13th generation Cores, Raptor Lake-K, at Intel Innovation 2022 (held September 27-28) — along with its Arc A770 graphics card. Inevitably, we expect the company to do it again in 2023 and formalize several consumer products.
In addition to Meteor Lake processors for laptops and Raptor Lake Refresh for desktops, Intel could announce new Arc Alchemist graphics cards, or even the Battlemage generation outright. An unofficial roadmap released a few weeks ago mentioned the Alchemist+ series for the end of 2023 and the first Battlemage GPUs through Q2 2024.
