Garmin launches a connected watch designed for health, sports and naps
The new Garmin Venu 3 is the manufacturer’s first connected watch for wheelchair sports tracking, but it also offers a sleep coach.
We’ve been anticipating it for a few days after last week’s leaks. This Wednesday, Garmin finally introduced its new connected watch geared towards fitness and health: the Garmin Venu 3.
Like the Garmin Venu 2 that came out a couple of years ago, it’s a connected sports watch, but with an OLED screen and not a reflective MIP. And it must be said that the watch is primarily intended for indoor use, in the gym or fitness sessions.
Two hours for two formulas
Concretely, the watch is available in two forms: Garmin Venu 3 and Garmin Venu 3S compact. Logically, the characteristics will be slightly different depending on the model:
- Garmin Venu 3: 45 mm, 1.4-inch display, 454 x 454 pixels, 324 ppi, 14-day battery life (11 hours multi-GNSS tracking with music)
- Garmin Venu 3S: 41 mm, 1.2-inch display, 390 x 390 pixels, 325 ppi, 10-day battery life (8 hours multi-GNSS tracking with music)
Contrary to what we thought in previous leaks, the Garmin Venu 3 is not ultimately inspired by the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Although the bezel integrated into the case differs from the large model, it does not rotate and therefore does not allow you to navigate the interface. So you will have to be content with the touch screen or navigate with the three buttons on the edge.
Unlike the Forerunner, Epix, or Fenix models that are specifically designed for outdoor activities, the Garmin Venu 3 does not offer multi-band GPS tracking, but only GPS-compatible multi-band GPS tracking. GPS), Glonass and Galileo. On the other hand, it includes Garmin’s latest generation heart rate sensor, the Elevate Gen 5, which opened with the Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 and Fenix 7 Pro.
Advanced recovery features
Above all, the Garmin Venu 3 includes many features from more sporty models such as “body battery” monitoring – which will assess your power reserve as the day progresses – heart rate variability measurement and morning reports.
The watch also offers certain features that are still new to Garmin, such as a mode for people in wheelchairs that won’t count steps taken, but pushes, and provides convenient activity monitoring.
The Garmin Venu 3 is also the first Garmin watch to offer a sleep coach that not only includes score, but tips as well. The watch can also measure when you rest during a nap, a function not previously supported by Garmin.
Finally, note that the Garmin Venu 3 can also allow you to make voice calls thanks to its built-in microphone and speaker. On the other hand, unlike the Venu 2 Plus, it does not offer ECG measurement.
The Garmin Venu 3 and Venu 3S are available on Wednesday for €499.99.
