China attacks G7: ‘Political manipulation and interference in our internal affairs’
China on the attack of the Group of Seven. Beijing accuses the summit, which concluded yesterday in Carbis Bay, Cornwall, of “political manipulation” and “interference” in its “internal affairs” in light of the stance expressed on the last day on the human rights issue in Xinjiang and Hong Kong. A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom said that “the G7 is using the Xinjiang issues to engage in political manipulation and interference in China’s internal affairs, and we are firmly opposed” to this matter. On the last day, the G7 asked China to “respect human rights and fundamental freedoms, especially in Xinjiang,” and also respect freedoms in Hong Kong. Indeed, China affirmed yesterday, commenting on the summit, that the times are over when a “small group of countries” decide the fate of the world.

China must be united. We are ready to do our best for peaceful reunification, but we will not leave any room for forms of separatist activity for the sake of ‘independence’.”
