Children’s snooze space
I wake up. Snozelen children’s area. Children from 3 to 6 years old in the leisure center, kindergarten and nursery school benefit from the “Zen space” inside the Jean-Pierre-Reschœur Children’s Center, in Lèves.
“When the Kindergarten class closed last year, the idea came to create a Snoozlin’ Room,” said Fabienne Morisier, Director of Childhood and Youth, and Marie-Hélène Ferreira, Deputy Mayor in charge of School and Youth Life.
In this white room with darkened windows, equipped with furniture and equipment adapted to their age, the children (maximum 10 at a time), together with their facilitators, live experiences of sensory, visual, acoustic and tactile stimulation that arouse their curiosity. Children “appreciate the relaxed atmosphere of these silent moments, where they give free rein to their imagination, sitting on different activity mats, listening to music or handling balls from different sides”, Fabienne Morisette emphasizes.
