Top-rated online casino blackjack games you must check out

The following online casino blackjack games were all developed by Playtech. You can enjoy playing these popular card games from any modern smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with Wi-Fi/internet connectivity.

Some of these online casino blackjack games (i.e., NOT the live dealer games) can be accessed in the real money mode AND free-play demo mode. The live dealer blackjack games can only be accessed in the real money mode.

One of the main reasons for live dealer games not being available in the practice mode is that they are too costly to run in this mode.

Live dealer software providers and online casinos must make money to pay the live dealers, and if people only played the live dealer games in the demo mode, they would lose money and wouldn’t be able to pay the dealers.

How to Play Blackjack

Blackjack is a simple card game, whereby the game is to reach as close to 21 points as possible with the cards you are dealt. You only have to try and beat the dealer, and you mustn’t go over 21 points (known as going bust).

The classic blackjack payouts to remember are that blackjack pays 3:2, a regular win pays 1:1, an insurance bet pays 2:1, and a tie/draw would result in a push (you would get your initial stake returned without winning or losing any money).

In blackjack, the cards are worth their face value. Therefore, being dealt a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 is worth 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 points, respectively. An Ace is worth 1 or 11 points, and the Kings, Queens and Jacks (picture cards) are each worth 10 points.

Therefore, if you are dealt a Jack and a 3, your hand would be worth 13 points. If you’re dealt a King and a Queen, your hand would be worth 10 points. If you were dealt a 5 and an Ace, your hand would be worth 6 or 16 points, and so on.

When playing regular online blackjack, you must start by selecting your stake and then hitting the start/draw/deal button when you’re ready to begin. If you’re playing live dealer blackjack, select your stake and wait for the countdown timer to reach zero for a new hand to begin.

When a new round begins, you and the dealer will be dealt two cards (one of the dealer’s cards is always dealt face-up). Based on the strength of the first two cards you are dealt will determine your next move.

For example, if you were dealt a 9 and an Ace, the total value would be 20 points (9 + 11), not 10 points (9 +1). The only hand that could be this will be if the dealer’s first two cards are equal to 20 or 21. After you have been dealt those first two cards, you can stand, hit, or double down.

Stand means to stay with the hand you have and not take any more cards to try and improve your hand, and hit means take another card. You can keep on ‘hitting’ until you go bust or until you end up with a hand value closest to 21 points.

Doubling down means placing another bet equal to the initial stake. You can also take out insurance before bets are placed, but it’s never recommended.

Don’t forget that the dealer normally must stand on all 17s. As soon as you have finished your turn, it’s the dealer’s turn, and then as soon as the dealer has finished, both hands will be revealed to find out who has won.

It’s that simple, and most rounds usually last just seconds, which is why it’s such a popular game. Once you have learned how to play one type of blackjack, all other variants will be just as easy to get to grips with.
