Beauden Barrett will probably never play in the Top 14!
The top 14 dreamed of it: it won’t happen.
Barring an unexpected twist, New Zealand international Beauden Barrett will likely never play in the top 14.
And with good reason, the 32-year-old has decided to extend his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union for an additional four seasons.
He is now tied to his federation until December 2027.
In other words, Beauden Barrett should stay with the Lions until the next World Cup, which will be held in Australia.
New All-Blacks coach Scott Robertson was delighted with the extension. Extracts:
“Bowden brings a lot of class,” new New Zealand coach Scott Robertson said. He is the second most capped back-line player in the All Blacks’ history and his ability to draw on his knowledge and experience is a reflection of his loyalty.
As a reminder, other players decided to leave the Black Team, such as Sam Whitlock, who joined Pau, or Richie Monga and Sam Kan, who signed in Japan.
