Beach within reach of dogs now
The Town Hall has opened an open space for dogs on Meru Beach in Hyeres. A petition to open this “Kani Beach” has collected more than 25,000 signatures.
For the past few days, Meru Beach in Hyere in the Var has been available for dogs. Anne-Sophie Garino and her dog Maxo are already taking advantage of the Kanye Beach which has been opened by the city council, and the place is bordered by guinea fowl.
A few weeks ago, Ann Sophie launched a petition to open a beach for dogs. She collected 25,000 signatures and is happy today that the city council has approved her application.
“I am very relieved that there was a positive result, as captivated the young woman at the BFM Var microphone. To see all the dogs enjoying the dogs among the congeners in the water is only positive for me.”
Rules to follow
Dogs are allowed to play ball. This delights their master, “It’s cool, they have a little room to run,” a woman sees on the BFM Var microphone. “The place is great, it is such a pleasure to know that I will be back during the week,” explains one of the vacationers.
“A perfectly legitimate request,” the town’s mayor, Jean-Pierre Geranmyer, stresses. But the city council member stresses that there are rules to be respected, “there is a responsibility for dog owners, they have to be attentive, and pick up the litter, but we trust them.”
“The public is asked to make sure the beach is left clean by making sure that dog waste is collected and then dumped in the bins designated for this purpose.
Garbage bag dispensers are available near beach entrances,” is it written City Hall website.
