Another failure for Scotland against a disappointing New Zealand
Scotland – New Zealand: 23-31
The All Blacks were mistreated for about an hour, and were back in Scotland for the last 20 minutes. Despite several heated occasions, the XV of Thistle conceded their 32nd defeat in as many matches against the Triple World Champions. The Blacks, they, claimed a sixth successive victory, at the end of a meeting that would have started better and finished better.
Did the various tributes paid before the meeting begin destabilize the Scots? We’ll probably never know, but to see the apathetic team that spent the first 10 minutes suffering from all the effects, we can legitimately consider that. All blacks, they showed less emotion. And after seven minutes of play, the scoreboard already showed 14-0. Taukei’aho, in a schoolwork, scored on a handheld ball thanks to his power (3e). Then Geordie Parrett took advantage of the lack of organization of the Scottish defense to provide a nice diagonal at the foot for Tilea, who fired his first header (7).e) with the first attempt.
The extreme lack of realism
In the silence of Murrayfield, the Scots revolted. Firstly, thanks to their defense, and two of their spotting leaders: Stuart Hogg and Finn Russell. The two Scottish rugby stars, who have been selected for a night out during the Six Nations Championship, have risen to the occasion. The Exeter full-back played the little kicking game for himself after catching a break, and was illegally tackled by Lienert-Brown (12e). After that penalty attempt, it was Graham who parried a rounded pass from Haveli to score and bring the teams back to par (14)e). Then Gregor Townsend’s men rolled for 50 minutes, choking the New Zealanders. Despite several highlights where they thought they scored (19e30e40e48e), they capitalized on Russell’s kicking game (31e43e54e). Very few to resist the All Blacks wake up, newer to finish the game and very realistic in the scoring area. Scott Barrett concluded in the power level (66e), then in the face of the local population exhausted from their vain efforts, Telea offered herself a double to decide the fate of the meeting (75)e).
Scotland will play one final game against Argentina (November 19th, 3:15pm CEST). New Zealand, for its part, concludes its tour that began against Japan on October 29, against England (November 19, 4:15 p.m. ET).
