All Blacks Laulala Column towards Stade Toulouse
RMC SPORT INFO – New Zealand international prop Nebo Laulala must commit to Stade Toulouse for next season.
After Charlie Fumwina, the Toulouse captains seem to appreciate the right footing for New Zealand. Because according to our information, his compatriot Nebo Lulala is in advanced discussions to play at Stade Toulouse next season. The Auckland Blues player, who in the past has donned the colors of the Canterbury Crusaders and Waikato Chiefs, and is famous for his combative gear, will be a favorite reinforcement for the Rouge-et-Noires.
The successor to Charlie Fomoina
Laolala (1mn, 84, 116kg), who will turn 31 on November 6, has been selected by coach Ian Foster to compete in the rugby tournament with New Zealand this summer. But he was injured first, and so far he hasn’t played a single minute. He was part of extended sets, particularly in the last match in Australia, but he never had a chance, the younger Lomax (26) and Newell (22) being favourites. Of Samoan descent, he has been an international player since 2015. He now has 41 caps and was also a starter in the last match between France and New Zealand at Stade de France (40-25) in November 2021.
In Toulouse, he will find another compatriot in the person of double world champion Jerome Caino, who has become assistant coach in charge of skills. But above all he will be the successor to Charlie Fomoina, 36 at the end of the year and at the end of the contract in June 2023 after it was extended by one year last season. It remains to be seen if Lula will be part of the All Blacks’ squad for the World Cup in France, which will determine when he arrives in Toulouse.
