This summer, from July 15 to August 24, dog sitting at Espace Encan will be available daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The new dog crèche, organized by La Rochelle Tourism and Events, in partnership with Patch Guard (Strasbourg dog care company), is the first project launched by a tourist office in France and will be able to accommodate up to ten dogs per day.
For €8 per hour, owners will be able to entrust their little friends with “trained and qualified professional tutors,” announced Nicolas Martin, general manager of La Rochelle Tourism and Events. He continues: “The desire behind this project is to provide a practical and reassuring solution for dog owners who wish to visit tourist sites in La Rochelle that are inaccessible to these animals, such as the towers, the aquarium, or certain beaches.” Please note that Category 1 dangerous dogs (such as pit bulls) or those that have not been tattooed or vaccinated cannot be accommodated for safety reasons.
Fight abandonment
This initiative was born out of strong demand from visitors on holiday with their dogs who found it impossible to access certain sites without their animals. Therefore, the tourism office decided to try out a dog daycare service, with the desire to repeat the experience in the coming years.
By offering this possibility to owners, La Rochelle Tourisme et Événements and Patch Guard also hope to combat abandonment while prioritizing the care of the animals during daycare hours. Dogs will benefit from quiet and play areas, will go for walks, and will have the opportunity to eat according to the daycare schedule. Both local owners and visitors will be able to take advantage of this offer. Reservation is possible on the website Patch guard In order to secure a place in doggie daycare.
