Google Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro: the differences!

Google has just announced its new high-end smartphone, the Pixel 8 Pro. But what are the differences from its predecessor, the Pixel 7 Pro? Below are all the technical features compared to help you see more clearly.

Between the Google Pixel 7 Pro and the new Google Pixel 8 Pro, the design hasn’t changed much. In fact, the Pixel 8 Pro still offers a bar at the back to integrate the image sensors. This time, only one bead is visible to all targets. In addition, we can count on the integration of a new temperature sensor used for health, which is absent from the Pixel 7 Pro. Dimensions are almost identical. It was based on a height of 162.2 mm compared to 162.9 mm previously, and a width of 76.5 mm compared to 76.6 mm for the Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel 8 Pro is 8.8mm tall compared to 8.9mm. The weight is also similar to 212 grams for the Pixel 7 Pro and 213 grams for the Pixel 8 Pro.
The Pixel 7 Pro phone contains a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, compared to 5050 mAh for the new model. They both charge at the same power, 30W, and offer both wireless and reverse charging.

What are the differences between monitors and image sensors?

The new Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone features a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels compatible with HDR10+ technology, like its predecessor. It features a refresh rate that can drop to 1Hz compared to 10Hz previously and rise to a maximum of 120Hz for smooth scrolling. In addition, we can count on higher brightness (max. 2,400 cd/m2, according to Google) on the Pixel 8 Pro compared to the previous device. Note that the screen is protected using Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 technology.

For photos, the Google Pixel 8 Pro, like its predecessor, has an optically stabilized 50-megapixel main sensor. There’s still a 48MP telephoto lens capable of up to 5x optical zoom. What’s new is the replacement of the 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 48MP unit for the new model. This is able to support images in macro mode, i.e. very close to the subject. Pixel 8 Pro offers exclusive photo editing features. In addition, it also includes a Video Boost function that allows every image to be processed with HDR10+ video resolution. The Night Sight function allows for very bright scenes.
In addition, one can also rely on professional settings for photos. The Magic Eraser has gained accuracy thanks to the integration of generative AI developed by Google. The Zoom Enhance function allows you to enhance enlarged images, again using the American giant’s generated artificial intelligence.
Otherwise, for taking a selfie, the Pixel 8 Pro has a 10.5-megapixel sensor compared to the 10.8-megapixel of the Pixel 7 Pro.

Are there any differences in performance and connectivity?

Yes, the Google Pixel 8 Pro is more powerful than the Pixel 7 Pro because it features the latest Google Tensor G3 chipset. Both Google smartphones have 12GB of RAM and offer 128, 256GB or even 512GB for more storage space. In terms of connectivity, both are 5G compatible and offer Wi-Fi 6E with the option to upgrade to Wi-Fi 7 when an update becomes available. Finally, note that the Google Pixel 8 Pro comes directly under Android 14 with the promise of 7 years of system and security updates.
