The serious reasons that prompted Vern Cotter to resign from office!

It has been recorded for several days already: New Zealand technician Vern Cotter will lead the formation of the Auckland Blues.

This past February, Vern Cotter decided to step down as coach of Fiji.

At the time, he cited “personal reasons” to justify his departure.

In an interview with The Team newspaper, Vern Cotter said more about his departure.

He talks about some serious issues. Extracts:

“I had to resign for political reasons after a change of government with xenophobic policies and topics like ‘Fiji to Fiji’. My expatriate status was troubling. I was subjected to very negative xenophobic personal pressures.

John O’Connor, who led the union, was fired and recruited. These constant pressures have created many controversies. For the sake of the World Cup, you need unity and confidence. I can no longer do my job. It’s a shame because we were able to build a team. You have won the trust of the players, and it is not easy. Last November, at Lille, we largely overcame the French barbarians.

Fiji is one of my biggest frustrations as a coach: the potential is huge but you can’t work constantly. We don’t have enough time for the players.
