The second day of competition and 6 competing races in varying conditions. In Series A reserved for Confirmed, Louison Cardin propelled himself to the top of the ratings. Wearing yellow lycra: “The wind was picking, so it was moving. The start was a bit complicated because we were full, and we’re not used to being on the starting line so much. We have to start on the right side so the fleet doesn’t pass in front of us.”.

Competitors range in age from 7 to 14 years old. Among them, foreign teams, 5 Kiwis and 12 Kagos. They are trying to identify the body of water near Matavai Bay. In parallel with the tournament, they are welcomed by Polynesian families. A way to live a sports and human adventure. “It is an exchange that is also taking place in New Caledonia because last year we welcomed Polynesians to New Caledonia. For some, we have rented a house in Papeete. It is a great experience because they are all together.” Olivier Guedeau, the group’s guide from New Caledonia, rejoices. “I’ve never been here, and I love it. I think it’s hot.” says Martin Howitt, the competitor from New Caledonia.

“I have a lot of highlights. Sometimes we’re ahead, sometimes we lag behind. It’s an emotional lift. And you have to manage to leave while you’re still boosted for the race. We could see they had a blast because they’re all smiling, and that’s the main thing.” says Jessie Bisson, a member of the competition’s organizer.

The young racers will leave with many memories of this intense week of racing, with winds between 10 and 15 knots.
