A video posted by 91Mobiles showed a temperature sensor on the back of the Pixel 8 Pro that could act as a thermometer.
While Google just launched its new mid-range smartphone, the Google Pixel 7a, it appears that the manufacturer already has its next two premium models, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, in the starting blocks.

At first glance, the Pixel 8 Pro looks identical in many ways to the Pixel 7 Pro that was launched late last year. We find in particular the horizontal aluminum band on the back which allows to receive a unit with three cameras. Below the flash, however, we can discern what, according to 91Mobiles, could be a temperature sensor. Thus, this sensor makes it possible to measure a person’s temperature simply by bringing it as close as possible to the skull without touching it, and by rotating the smartphone around the head. A system very close to what is offered by the technology currently used in non-contact thermometers.

It also specifies that this sensor can also be used to measure the temperature of other objects and that the data will not be shared in the cloud, but will remain private. However, it can be expected to integrate various fitness and health apps from Google, be it Google Fit or Fitbit.
If Google sticks to its regular schedule, we can expect an official presentation of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro sometime in the fall. As a reminder, the company unveiled its Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones on October 6, 2022.
