Youth Gold Cup: Falcon, Amonte and Silvi winners at La Grande (…]

Rum Runners, the Antigua crew, won the last race (coef 2), against the Dutchman from DutchSail JAJO, and dominated until then (3 wins out of the last 5 races). Rocco Falcone, Filippo Amonte and Alice Silvi climbed to the top rungs of the La Grande Motte podium and secured their place in the Barcelona final next fall. Groupe Atlantic and Team France ranked fourth, respectivelyH and 5H.

“It was really a last minute victory, after a huge battle between us, Dutch Seal and Luna Rossa Piranha. One shot it was us, one shot no, it was hesitant until the end. So we are very happy. The level between the finalists is very high, everyone can “Winning and everyone makes mistakes. It’s a battle for every sign,” Filippo admits before opening the Victory Championship.

This last day of competition was intense: light winds and menacing storm clouds accompanied the 6 finalists who could still compete in 5 of the 6 scheduled regattas. With tight points spreads and numerous penalties distributed, the main thing was above all to be regular and avoid mistakes.

The new crew of Team France, brilliant winners of two races this Sunday, has struggled with this. But the tri-color collection leaves La Grande Motte on a positive budget. “Apart from Enzo (Balanger), none of us knew the 69F and the crew discovered each other,” explains Mathilde Lovadina. So in the first place we are very happy that we managed to make it to the final!

The other French team, Groupe Atlantic, just finished on the podium, but without a lap. “In the heat, our record isn’t bad. And we’re a bit sad to miss the qualification for Barcelona which was our main goal (the first two teams from each season meet in the Barcelona final). After that, there are a lot of positive things, because we have a new set of crew, with the arrival of Jessica We are so glad she came to her, she brings us so much freshness, we work so well together. We are also very happy she came to this event. The sailing conditions were first class, the two lap courses were fantastic. We are voting for more races like this. That level was insane with the two boats from Luna Rossa, DutchSail and Team France. Never had a final of this level in 69F!”.
