The sanitary measure that prevented migrants at the Mexican border ends

More than 24,000 agents and law enforcement officials have been deployed to Texas to prevent the massive influx of immigrants.

It was 11:59 p.m. Too precise, on Thursday evening, the measure, “Title 42,” that had allowed the United States to secure access to its territory since the start of the pandemic, had expired. This repression has confused many migrants at the border and made the authorities fear the “chaotic” influx of refugees.

In preparation, the state of Texas mobilized “more than 24,000 agents and law enforcement officials” at the border, as well as 4,000 soldiers. At the same time, US President Joe Biden acknowledged that the situation would be “chaotic for a while.”

In Matamoros, a Mexican border town in Brownsville, Texas, migrants continued crossing the Rio Grande toward the United States on foot or in improvised canoes.

Coming from the other side, a message in Spanish was repeated over the loudspeaker: “Stay in Mexico, it is illegal to cross into the United States. If you cross, you will be deported.”

Some migrants rushed across the border some 3,000 kilometers before Title 42 lifted to apply for asylum, fearing a rule change would prevent them from doing so for five years.
