Free is boosting its basic TV package with the launch of the Discovery Science Channel today at no additional cost.

Big blow for Free, the ISP signs a distribution agreement with Discovery. Univers Freebox announced on March 14 that several new features will launch this Wednesday on Freebox TV, first but not least, the access of their reference science channel, Discovery Science, as of today included free for all subscribers. Freebox is on channel 64. At the time of this writing, M6 Music was broadcasting on this channel, but a new service plan will be rolled out during the day.

Discovery Science is not a channel dedicated to the scientific elite, quite the opposite, because through high-quality content it works to spread science and allows everyone to understand the world around us and what the future holds for us in an often playful way.

This is the first time that Free has included a channel from the Discovery Group live in its show. However, the operator introduced the US group’s channels a few years ago on the TV by Canal show, included on some Freebox shows (Revolution and now Delta and Delta-Pop). But the latter was withdrawn after an exclusive agreement signed with SFR.

Discovery Science redefines science by removing it from labs and classrooms to make it fun and interesting, but still relevant. While some talk about solutions, tests and hypotheses, the channel prefers to play with robots, explosions and hybrids. Its programs combine entertainment and education to make science accessible to all. The channel shares new ideas, innovations and technological developments.

Last year, Discovery completed the acquisition of Warner Media from US carrier AT&T for about $40 billion. This merger saw the birth of a new company called Warner Bros Discovery, which will launch “Warner Pass” tomorrow on Prime Video with 12 channels and all HBO content.

To take advantage of Discovery Science, the launcher must be restarted. All Freebox models are involved and of course OQee, which allows access to the channel on the go. There will be many other announcements regarding Freebox TV this morning and throughout the day.
