Northern Ireland: An expert catches pigeons during a videoconference in Parliament

A strange situation during a committee meeting in Northern Ireland’s parliament caused a lot of entertainment on social media on Wednesday evening. Of all the things, pigeons played a role during a video interview with an expert whose name nearly matches the English word for bird.

It was unclear how the bird got into the expert’s apartment. However, he appears to be sitting in a loft with the window open. Perhaps the Pigeon cat played a role. BBC correspondent Daran Marshall wrote on Twitter that the cat introduced pigeons into the study.

The expert seemed relieved to get rid of the bird, so he reassured the entertaining deputies: “It flew away, so the cat did not kill it.” And Daran’s post was retweeted on the Finance Committee’s Twitter account, which said: “The committee was informed that neither the pigeons nor Pigeon were affected in this process.”
