Tour of Britain – Corbin Strong’s 1st stage victory, Dylan Tynes 6

New Zealander Corbin Strong won the first stage of the Tour of Britain (2.Pro), which linked Aberdeen to Gleechy Ski Center over a distance of 181.3 km on Sunday in Scotland. The Israel – Premier Tech rider beat Spain’s Omar Fraile (INEOS Grenadiers) and Norway’s Anders Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Pro cycling team).

Dylan Tunes took first place out of the twelve Belgians who entered this race. The Israel – Premier Tech rider finished sixth in this stage. Belgium is the second most represented country in this round after English. From a distance of 13 km, 5 riders took the lead with a breakup made up of Norwegian Martin Jorjanstad (Uno-X Pro cycling team), American Stephen Bassett (human-powered health), England’s Matthew Gibson (human-powered health) of Canadian Benjamin Perry ( WiV SunGod) and Englishman Jacob Scott (WiV SunGod). The runners in this group organized themselves well and won points for the three middle races and three Class Three assists. The breakup, in the middle of the stage, took over 3 minutes on the peloton to finally get caught 2km from the line. The finish was decided in a sprint and it was Corbin Strong, driving his team, who took the first road victory of his young career. The New Zealander is also a track specialist and was notably the world points race champion in 2020. On Monday, Peloton will remain in Scotland for stage two, which will take riders from Hawick to Duns over a distance of 175.2 km.
