Blizzard previews WoW HUD and UI with Dragonflight – World of Warcraft

In an article just published, Blizzard talked about the WoW HUD and the UI that comes with the expansion. Dragon Flight. Find all the details below.

Get ready to experience a HUD and user interface (UI) redesigned to be customizable, efficient, attractive, and easily accessible.

With the Dragonflight update, we are making some substantial changes to the HUD and UI of world of cans. Our goal is to simplify display and allow gamers to customize their HUD display to better suit their individual needs.

Brand new look

Technologies have come a long way since we designed our first user interface in 2004. We now have more advanced tools for creating and optimizing game elements. We wanted to update the look of the interface while retaining the charm and personality of the original graphics through a clean aesthetic. What better time to make these changes than launch Dragon Flight ?

Players will immediately notice the most obvious changes. For example, the mini map and health bar are more visible, and we have removed some unnecessary elements for the sake of clarity. Likewise, we have simplified the look of the Action Bar, while maintaining its distinctive style. We’ve also added a new set of Gryphons and created Wyverns for Horde Heroes and Heroines. Check out the new style of the inventory and view the loot! It is now possible to use the Combo Backpack feature to find and organize inventory items faster.

Your turn now

Welcome to edit mode. Thanks to the Edit mode, you will now be able to edit, customize and move (almost) anything you want, wherever you want. The different elements of the ATH are movable and each element has a variety of options giving you the perfect fit.

Once you make the edits, you can name, save, edit, copy and share your settings with the community. Those who change their major are often happy to see that the latter will be saved. When you change specifications, the feature remembers the HUD layout you’re using for that specification and changes it accordingly.

Will this new feature completely replace the ability to use add-ons? No way. We understand that add-ons offer a lot of customization possibilities, but not all players use them. However, with the help of our user research team, we strive to meet the needs of our community. We integrate elements of some add-ons into the basic user interface. Those who want to continue to use their favorite add-ons can.

Improve accessibility to make your life easier

Improving accessibility features is fundamental to the new user interface design, providing players with the tools to fully enjoy the game. Here are some changes made to improve accessibility:

  • New option “Send spells: tap and hold” – When enabled, it allows to cast a spell continuously from the action bar by pressing and holding a key on the keyboard without having to press the same key multiple times.
  • New ‘Interaction Key’ feature – By pressing the interaction key, you will be able to interact with characters and non-playable objects without using mouse click. NPCs and interactable objects will have an icon above their heads when they are close enough to interact.
  • New targeting system for “interactive combat” – This feature complements the standard targeting system and automatically targets enemies when you get close to them. This will allow you to start sending abilities right away and quickly switch targets depending on where you’re looking.

and after?

Redesigning the user interface is an ongoing project; We want to keep making changes and improvements. In addition to improving the feature set currently available, we intend to take a look at several other UI elements and eventually include other features, such as:

  • Additional edit mode options;
  • group management;
  • raid windows
  • Mission Tracking
  • Plus other graphical improvements.

We’ll give you more information and details about these features (and more) as we get closer to the launch of Dragon Flight. Check out all of these changes and more. We look forward to your comments.
