Brody Ritalik is back in the Blacks squad against Argentina

Veteran second-tier Brody Ritalik returned to the New Zealand squad to face Argentina in rugby on Saturday but is unlikely after playing for the Blacks again.

Ritalik, 31 and 95 caps, was sidelined after suffering a broken cheekbone in mid-July during the third Test of the summer against Ireland, which the blacks lost.

He’s ready to play with his regional team at Hawk’s Bay on Saturday, in order to find some time to play.

“Brody is ahead of his return schedule, and he should play for the Hawks Bay. If all goes well, we will reassess his condition,” said coach Ian Foster.

Third streak Sam Kani is the captain of the group of 36 New Zealanders who must confirm against Argentina the hopes that emerged after winning in South Africa (35-23) two weeks ago.

The win ended a rare three-game losing streak for the defending champions, and ensured Foster in his role until the 2023 World Cup.

However, the Blacks will be without center Jack Goodhue, who has to undergo surgery for a knee injury. It is not known how long he was absent from the field a year before the World Cup.

It’s a blow for the 27-year-old, who has just returned to the All Black group after a season marred by another injury, still in his knee.
