Vietnamese President receives New Zealand Ambassador

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday, October 26, received New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Traiden Dobson, appreciating him for many important activities to promote bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Triden Dobson expressed his respect and desire to promote the exchange between Vietnamese and New Zealand Maori culture.

Recalling the events of July 2020 when Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the upgrading of relations between Vietnam and New Zealand to the level of strategic partnership, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the New Zealand ambassador said that she had made efforts to strengthen bilateral relations in proportion to the Collaboration potential.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese president thanked New Zealand for its support of Vietnam with 30,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Emphasizing that New Zealand is one of the important economic partners of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the Ambassador to coordinate to promote the exchange of high-level delegations; Signing the action plan to implement the strategic partnership this year. Facilitating travel, trade and investment in industries, infrastructure, renewable energy, clean technology, agriculture…

The Vietnamese president suggested that the two sides strengthen relations between schools and universities and cooperate in the field of vocational training; restore tourism cooperation; Strengthen exchanges between the two peoples. He said that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for New Zealand companies to invest in Vietnam.

The president wants the two countries to aim for $2 billion in bilateral sales by 2024.

Through the ambassador, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has sent an invitation to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
