Squash: Egypt loses top spot in men’s rankings, the first in 4 years
For the first time in four years, a non-Egyptian player has taken first place in the men’s world rankings from the Professional Squash Association (PSA).
New Zealand squash player Paul Cole, runner-up at the Windy City Open in Chicago, has outpaced former top seed Ali Faraj in the March world rankings. Al-Masry was eliminated in the quarter-finals of this tournament by his compatriot Marwan El-Shorbagy.
Seven Egyptians in the top ten
This is the first time a non-Egyptian person has topped the PSA world rankings since February 2018, when Frenchman Gregory Gauthier was the leader. Cole also became the first New Zealander to achieve this feat.

Despite losing the first place, Egypt still dominates the sport with seven players in the top ten in the standings. Paul Cole, winner Tarek Moamen (3-2), will face another Egyptian, Youssef Ibrahim, winner Marwan El-Shorbagy (3-2), on Wednesday, March 2 at 5pm GMT in the final of the Windy City Open in . Chicago.
