Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced, on Tuesday, that he had ordered the deployment of additional troops in the south, on the border with Ukraine, on the sixth day of the Russian invasion of this country.

Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting of the Belarusian Security Council, announced that helicopters and military aircraft, deployed in Gomel, Baranovichi and Lunentes, currently ensure the security of these borders between two former Soviet republics.

The attack was not planned in Ukraine

He called for the deployment of “five tactical battalions to protect this direction” south, usually consisting of hundreds of soldiers, equipped with armored vehicles and artillery.

But Moscow’s ally, 67-year-old Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled Belarus with an iron fist since 1994, assured that his country would not participate in the attack on Ukraine. “This is not our job,” he said.

He also called for additional troops to be deployed on the border with Poland in the west to protect Belarus from a possible NATO attack.

“Under no circumstances should NATO forces be allowed to invade Belarusian territory, nor even the slightest operation on our territory,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
