Here are the first pictures of the McLaren 4×4

McLaren will be participating in Extreme E next year and specifically, the British brand has just presented the first images of its vehicle and its second driver.

McLaren’s first SUV will be 100% electric. But it will not be marketed. Woking is now offering its 4×4 electric vehicle in orange. This will be used to compete in the Extreme E Championship. While it looks more like a pre-production vehicle camouflage than a uniform, the wild paint of the Odyssey 21 SUV showcases intricate designs. These represent the places where the championship races will be held.

In addition to revealing its racing SUV, the team has also announced the name of its second driver. Emma Gilmore will lead alongside Tanner Foust. In addition to her extensive rally experience, the New Zealand racer is with Veloce Racing in the first season of Extreme E this year. She is also the first woman to win the New Zealand Rally Championship.

First woman noticed

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, said: We are proud to announce that Emma Gilmore is the first female McLaren Racing driver. Emma completes our list of competitive riders alongside Tanner Foust in our first season of Extreme E. She won a race and proved herself this year in Extreme E. It is fitting that our first rider is from New Zealand. Bruce McLaren”.

Gilmore added: “I am incredibly honored to be the first female McLaren Racing driver. Growing up in New Zealand, Bruce McLaren and McLaren Racing are the pinnacle of motorsport for me. Competing in next year’s Extreme E with McLaren is a special opportunity for me”. The team and driver seem very satisfied with this partnership, and we can’t wait to see what it brings behind the wheel.
