The instant messaging app will no longer be available on forty smartphones with a dated version of iOS or Android. Below is a list of affected devices

Posted by Whatsapp a few weeks ago : As of Monday, November 1, many smartphones running on older versions of IOS or Android will not be able to properly access the instant messaging app.

In fact, it is no longer possible to update the app on older smartphones that do not use at least iOS 10, Android 4.1 or KaiOS 2.5.1.

In total, about 40 smartphones are likely to be affected, according to the list published on the WhatsApp website (see below). However, there is little chance of being affected. And for good reason, “the list includes the majority of devices that have never been sold or very few have been sold in France, especially the mid-range models from Korean manufacturers LG and Samsung or from the Chinese brand Huawei”. The latest version on the list was released in 2012, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, remember Parisian.

An apple : The first generation iPhone 6S, 6S Plus and SE need to be updated if it has not been updated before. Versions 5, 5S, and 5C can theoretically continue to use WhatsApp in iOS 10 but it may not be compatible with many other services. iPhone 4S, stuck in iOS 9, is no longer supported.
