The health corridor is open for Chinese vaccines on the condition of receiving an additional dose of messenger RNA – RT in French

The government has decided that people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 abroad with Chinese vaccines can benefit from a health card. However, there is a main condition: get an extra dose of Pfizer or Moderna.

According to a decree published in the Official Gazette on September 23, a health permit will now be available in France for people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 abroad with Chinese vaccines. However, the Chinese serum alone would not be enough to benefit from the controversial passage: to get it, these people would have to receive a “supplementary dose of the messenger RNA vaccine”, ie Pfizer or Moderna.

So far, people who have been vaccinated with Chinese vaccines, which require two doses, have not been able to obtain a health permit in France without going through a full vaccination with one of the recognized vaccines. Now a third dose of the mRNA vaccine is sufficient.

This should be done “at least four weeks after the last injection was made abroad,” the Directorate General of Health (DGS) outlined in a note to caregivers. To benefit from this third dose, these people are required to “provide paper or digital proof of their complete vaccination (i.e. for each injection made abroad)”.

If they only had one dose of the Chinese vaccine, they would have to “receive two doses of the mRNA vaccine in order to complete their vaccination schedule and thus obtain a health permit in France,” assures the DGS.

At this point, four vaccines against Covid have been licensed in the European Union by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Commission: those from Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).
