Trainers based in Southland have achieved notable success during the 2017/18 racing season. Once again Kelvin Tyler is leading the Southland trainers. At this stage he has won 28 races and $443,500. Jo-Ann Gordon has had 21 wins and $384,382 with a good strike rate of a winner every 4.86 runners. The big winner this season is Stephen Blair-Edie, who has won 21 races and $317,065 in stakes.
