Nice to learn the irrepressible Gai Waterhouse is planning to put some polish on what was promising to be a lacklustre Queensland winter carnival. After capturing last Saturday’s Doomben 10,000 with English, the First Lady of Australian racing is positioning herself to attack the Queensland record of her iconic father Tommy Smith, who captured 33 Brisbane races which now have Group One ranking.
