The finish of the South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Riccarton Park in March might be worth recalling ahead of Elfee and Flying Sardine meeting again in the Christchurch Casino Open 1600 there tomorrow. From barrier six in the Group Three feature on her home track, the Michael and Matthew Pitman-prepared Elfee became locked up beyond midfield. Once clear, she was the only runner to take ground of the winner La Fille En Jeu, clearly clocking the fastest closing 600 in the race…
