The all-conquering All Stars set a new Jewels record with the win of classy trotter Winterfell in the 3YO Ruby at Cambridge.
He proved far too good for his opponents with an all-the-way win in the hands of co-trainer Mark Purdon, stopping the clock in 1.58.9.
It was the sixth win on the day for Purdon and partner Natalie Rasmussen, a single Jewels day record after earlier wins with Princess Tiffany, Enhance Your Calm, Shez All Rock, Another Masterpiece and Eamon Maguire.
It was a third-straight stakes win, and second Group 1 for the giant son of Majestic Son, who was destined for a spell three months ago.
“He’s been the surprise of this year for us,” said Purdon.
“He went from needing a spell to fully matured in six weeks and hasn’t looked back since.”
Breeder and owner Trevor Casey was on hand to enjoy the victory, Winterfell his next home-bred square-gaiting star following on from Stent and Escapee, Winterfell’s older half-sister.
Locally-trained Monaro Mia continued her excellent season with strong run from the trail for second placing in the hands of Sailesh Abernethy while Aussie visitor Wobelee overcame a wide draw for third.
