Canterbury-bred mare Shartin further added to her exceptional year in North America with another feature race win on Hambletonian Day at The Meadowlands, New Jersey.

The daughter of Tintin America, bred and first trained by Grant Crabbe at Prebbleton, took out the US$197,400 Lady Liberty FFA for mares, taking her 2018 earnings to U$681,831.

Tim Tetrick once again partnered with the Jim King Jr-trained mare, and had he in front for a majority of the 1800-metre trip.

She held on by a head from the fast-closing Pure Country, but they don’t pay out on margins.

“She's done nothing but be great, and she did it again today,” said Tetrick post-race.

“She doesn't always win by a lot, but she gets it done."

Crabbe sold Shartin unraced to Victorian trainer Dean Braun, who won seven of 13 starts with her in the 2016/17 season, including the Tasmanian Oaks and Queensland Oaks.

Two races earlier, Atlanta upstaged the boys to win the US$1 Million Hambletonian for three-year-old trotters.

The daughter of Chapter Seven led the whole way for trainer Rick Zeron and driver, Scott Zeron.

In the process, she usurped Shartin as the richest racehorse in North America in 2018.
